Award for Gort Beag Houses

Congratulations to Donoghmore Construction on receiving the Environmental Sustainability Award as part of the Construction Excellence Awards 2013. The award was in recognition of Donoghmore's construction of the Gort Beag houses on the island.

The ten houses were built to meet Level 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes. The project also had to meet Lifetime Homes and Secure by Design standards, with the team having to contend with the challenges of working on Rathlin.

All of these high construction standards will hopefully contribute to the long-term sustainability of the housing stock on the island, and through this to the sustainability of the island community itself.
