RATHLIN SOUND MARITIME FESTIVAL 2017 - TUE 30 MAY
10.45am Food tour with Caroline Redmond, meet at Rathlin Harbour
Walk, eat, laugh, love Rathlin! Come along and hear more of Rathlin’s history, culture and craic with tasters of the delicious local food the island has to offer.

12.00 noon Whale Launch, Rathlin Harbour
See if the Rathlin children, with some help from friends, can build, and successfully launch, a Blue Whale!!
2.30pm Ian Stephen Creative Writing workshop, Manor House
Creative writing with a maritime slant - Ian will work with whoever comes and whatever you bring to the table, helping new writing take shape. “Finding a form - is like discovering the shape of a boat.”
A taste of the South Pacific
7pm, Manor House
After many years working on the South Pacific islands and atolls of Tokelau, Vanuatu and Samoa, Whelma Villa-Kennedy (from the Philippines) and Shaun Kennedy bring their stories and images to Rathlin, exploring how today’s communities sustain their island traditions and traditional boats.
A Light on the Stacks
Tuesday 30th May & Friday 2nd June West Light Seabird Centre, 9.00pm-10.30pm,
The West Light Seabird Centre will open late for visitors to experience both the sunset and Rathlin West's famous red light coming on for the night. Come along and enjoy the special atmosphere of this dramatic lighthouse location at dusk, with the light casting its glow across the sea and the stacks and cliffs of one of the biggest seabird breeding colonies in Western Europe.
