Rathlin Island is just six miles off the coast of Northern Ireland but a short ferry crossing will transport you to another world.

Join RSPB warden and islander Liam McFaul to explore the RSPB’s reserve at Roonivoolin on the southern arm of the island.

This nature reserve is home to a rich variety of birds and wildlife, from common blue butterflies to wildflowers, soaring birds of prey to Northern Ireland’s only family of chough.

Along the way you might also spot seals lazing in Mill Bay or, if you’re lucky, you might catch a glimpse of an elusive Irish hare.

You’ll also be able to enjoy stunning scenery as far as the eye can see, including views of Fair Head and the Mull of Kintyre.

Please book your ferry crossing in advance via www.rathlinballycastleferry.com or by calling 028 2076 9299. We recommend booking the 11.15am departure from Ballycastle and the 16.15pm return crossing. Please also bring a packed lunch and wear suitable outdoor clothing and footwear in case of inclement weather.
