RSPB RATHLIN BOAT TRIP

Join RSPB NI Rathlin warden Liam McFaul on board a specially chartered boat to enjoy a tour of Rathlin Island from the water. Setting off from Rathlin Harbour, look out for gannets, gulls and guillemots. Keep your eyes peeled for seals and eider ducks too – they can often be seen lazing around the harbour.
In summer, seabirds including puffins, guillemots, razorbills, kittiwakes and fulmars gather in their thousands to jostle for space. This boat trip will take you close to the base of the crowded cliff stacks – offering unique close-up views of the spectacular colony – the sight and sound will take your breath away. The cliffs are also home to peregrines, buzzards and ravens, so watch out for those on our trip around the Island. You’ll get vantage points from the boat that you just couldn’t get on the island.
Take in the fantastic views of the West Lighthouse (built in 1912) from the water, spot the disused coastguard look-out post, the East Lighthouse (built in 1856) and Bruce’s cave, used by Robert the Bruce in 1306 when he had to retreat and regroup during his campaign for the throne of Scotland. All money raised from this event will go directly back into our work on the island.
