RSPB ROONIVOOLIN RAMBLE

Saturday 11 August

12noon to 4pm

Price: £5 / £4 for RSPB members

Booking essential

Rathlin Island lies just six miles off the coast of Northern Ireland but a short ferry crossing will transport you to another world. Join RSPB NI warden and islander Liam McFaul to explore the Roonivoolin reserve on the southern arm of the island. This haven for nature is home to a rich variety of birds and wildlife, from common blue butterflies to wildflowers, soaring birds of prey to Northern Ireland’s only family of choughs. Along the way you might also spot seals lazing in Mill Bay or, if you’re lucky, you might catch a glimpse of an elusive Irish hare. You’ll also be able to enjoy stunning scenery as far as the eye can see, including views of Fair Head and the Mull of Kintyre. Please bring a packed lunch and wear suitable outdoor clothing and footwear in case of inclement weather. Meet at the bus shelter by Rathlin harbour. Price: £5 / £4 for RSPB members. Booking required. Call our secure booking line 028 9064 5630 (Mon to Fri, 9am to 5pm) or email rspbnievents@rspb.org.uk. Please book your ferry crossing in advance via www.rathlinballycastleferry.com or by calling 028 2076 9299. We recommend booking the 11am departure from Ballycastle and the 4.15pm or 5.30pm return crossing.
