An Appeal to Campers

Monday 5 July 2010

While many campers are respectful of the Island’s beautiful environment, unfortunately many are not. Campers on Rathlin this weekend left a serious mess in the area between Church Bay and Mill Bay.

We are appealing to campers to clear away and properly dispose of their rubbish in the many bins provided. Also, the lighting of camp fires can cause serious damage. The Island’s volunteer Fire Service was called out on Saturday night to deal with such an incident. The picture above shows the scene on one of the most popular and scenic walks, which obviously spoils the experience for other visitors and of course for the Island’s residents. Rathlin is a beautiful island, please keep it that way!
