Coastguard Cuts Campaign

Wednesday 2 February 2011

The UK government are proposing to close the Belfast Coastguard centre at Bregenz House in Bangor. Many people in Northern Ireland are very concerned at the implications this would have for the safety of people using the seas and coast all around the north.

The Public and Commercial Service Union, which represents Coastguard staff have started an online campaign, which sends a form letter to MPs, asking the government to reconsider this policy.

Any concerned person - you don't have to be a Coastguard volunteer, or a member of the PCS union - can sign up to the campaign. It only takes a couple of minutes, and then a letter will be emailed to your MP and MLAs. Please consider giving this campaign your support, and help keep Rathlin residents and visitors as safe as possible.
