Kebble & Kinramer ASSI

Wednesday 9 February 2011

The Department of the Environment has announced that the Kebble & Kinramer areas of Rathlin are now designated an 'Area of Special Scientific Interest' (ASSI).

The announcement states that the area has been declared an ASSI 'because of its heathland, grassland and wetland vegetation, in addition to its associated plant and animal species', including the famous pyramidal bugle, as well as chough, snipe and lapwing.

There are copies of leaflets about the Kebble & Kinramer ASSI available in the Resource Centre for island residents to take, and a large scale map of the area for public information.
