Monday 4 July 2016

Following the very sad passing in the space of a few days a month ago of both Kay McCurdy and Loughie McQuilkin, their families have put forward the following messages.

Kay McCurdy RIP
The family of the late Kay McCurdy wish to express our sincere gratitiude to all those who sympathised and supported us throughout our recent bereavement. Thank you to our extended family and friends, to all those who called at the house, attended the funeral, sent cards and letters of sympathy and made dontions in lieu of flowers to the British Lung Foundation.

A special thanks to Fr Kevin McGuckian for going out of his way to officiate the lovely Mass, to the priests of the parish for their pastoral care during Kay's illness and to Pat Black and singers for enhancing the Mass with their beautiful music. Many thanks to PJ Dallat and Sons for their kindness and professionalism and Rathlin Ferry Company for the free transportation of the mourners.

We also greatly appreciate the kindness, care and dedication of the nurses on Rathlin, the doctors and nurses in the Causeway Hospital, Coleraine and the staff of the Dalriada Hospital, Ballycastle who cared for Kay and helped us in her last few weeks. Kay's Month's Mind Mass [was] celebrated in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Rathlin Island, on Sunday June 26th at 12 noon.

Loughie McQuilkin RIP
Margaret and the family circle of the late Loughie wish to express their sincere thanks to all who sympathised with them and provided support at the time of Loughie's death. Heartfelt thanks to our friends and fellow islanders who came together to help, to those who travelled form far and near to attend the wake and funeral, sent Mass cards, sympathy cards, letters and telephoned.

A special word of thanks to Fr Barney McCahery and Fr Laurence McElhill for celebrating the Funeral Mass and to all who contributed to making Loughie's funeral so memorable and fitting. Thanks also to Fr Brian Daly, Fr Hugh O'Kane and Fr Noel McHenry for their spiritual care which was so important to Loughie.
