Irish Lights has issued a new information leaflet in advance of their consultation meeting on Rathlin next week. The leaflet outlines CIL's intentions for the three lighthouses on the island, explaining that they will retain the current rotating beam from each lighthouse, and the use of the existing historic lenses. They propose to remove the current high energy lamps (1,000 watts) and replace them with LEDs (70 watts), and to remove the mercury and the diesel generators from each lighthouse, among other proposed changes. See the leaflet linked to above for more information, and all island residents are encouraged to attend the meeting in the Parochial Hall at 7.30pm on Tuesday 23rd July.
