Over 200 people gathered in McCuaig’s Bar on Rathlin on Saturday 7th July for the launch of Rathlin Island Books’ latest publication - The Call of the Running Tide by renowned sailing and local history writer, Wallace Clark.

The event was very much a celebration of the life of Wallace Clark (1926-2011), and the main speakers at the launch were Wallace’s son Bruce, and Commander Peter Campbell and John Fishbourne, both members of the author's huge fraternity of sea-faring friends. Also in attendance were RNLI Lifeboats from both Portrush and Red Bay (Wallace’s royalties are being donated to the RNLI), as well as the yacht most associated with Wallace, Wild Goose, now owned by outdoor pursuits instructor and boat restorer Robin Ruddock. Also speaking at the event were Mark Mitchell of the Portrush Lifeboat team who spoke about Wallace’s association with the RNLI, and Michael Cecil, Chair of the RDCA, who welcomed everyone to the island and spoke about the importance of business development on Rathlin.

Rathlin Island Books would like to thank everyone in McCuaig's whose hard work helped make the day run so smoothly, and in particular everyone on the island who came along and supported the event.
