Kinramer Trophy Model Yacht Race
Wednesday 18 July 2012
There was an excellent turnout for the Kinramer Trophy model yacht race on Sunday. Held on the last day of Festival Week, the weather was beautiful and the breeze was good and strong for a proper race. Seven boats entered the race.
Marina with race winners Ivor Neill and Brendan Roof.
There was a last-minute entrant to the race, with two of the crew of the St Colmcille currach, Ivor Neill and Brendan Roof, racing Loughie McQuilkin's boat, the Shamrock. They raced this fine boat so well that they only went and won the race!
Marina with Brian.
Second (again!) was Brian Teggart, with Benji McFaul taking third.
Marina with Benji.
This leaves the standings, with two races left as follows (and it's a two-horse race):
1st: Fergus, 11 points (3 points Manor House Cup + 3 points Coleraine Cup + 2 points Marconi Shield + 3 points Alley Cup)
2nd: Brian, 8 points (2 points, Kinramer Trophy + 2 points Manor House Cup + 2 points Coleraine Cup + 1 point Marconi Shield + 1 point Alley Cup)
Joint 3rd: Ivor, 3 points (3 points Kinramer Trophy)
Joint 3rd: Stephen, 3 points (3 points Marconi Shield)
4th: Daniel, 2 points (2 points Alley Cup)
Joint 5th: Benji, 1 point (1 point Kinramer Trophy)
Joint 5th: Cathal, 1 point (1 point Coleraine Cup)
Joint 5th: Douglas, 1 point (1 point Manor House Cup)
Ivor and Brendan with Loughie.
Well done to them all, and thanks as ever to Marina for all her hard work, and to everyone who helped out, in particular to those who ran the much appreciated barbeque. The next race is the Guesthouse Shield on Saturday 11 August at 6.00. The postponed Paddy O'Donnell Cup will be rescheduled later.
