RDCA Annual General Meeting 2017
Monday 10 July 2017
The RDCA's 2017 Annual General Meeting was held last Thursday evening in the Parochial Hall. The meeting had the usual reports from the Chair and Treasurer, and looked back over the events and achievements of the last year, including the Rathlin Sound Maritime Festival and the reopening of the Manor House. The Treasurer reported that because of the unusually high turnover of the RDCA in 2016/17 (due to the Coastal Communities Fund monies for the Manor House project), charities legislation required that the annual accounts be audited, and this had not been possible in the time available before the AGM. Instead, the meeting agreed that a Special General Meeting will be held on Thursday 28 September 2017 to examine the auditors report.
The new Committee met immediately after the AGM, and the Chair Michael Cecil, Vice Chair Patricia McCurdy and Secretary Marina McMullan were all reappointed, while Marianne Green, who was co-opted to the Committee earlier in the year to replace Ksenia Zywczuk, was appointed as Treasurer for a full term. The success of Rathlin 2020 and other uses of Appreciative Inquiry on the island in raising Rathlin's profile was noted, a number of future projects and events were also discussed, and the date for the 2018 AGM will be set at the SGM in September.
