RDCA Annual General Meeting 2018
Thursday 11 October 2018
The RDCA's 2018 AGM was held last Friday 5th October. In a change from the usual arrangements, it was held earlier in the evening, and on a Friday, and in the restaurant of McCuaig's Bar instead of the Hall, and attendees were offered a full hot meal, with the result that we had a much larger turnout than normal, with over seventy island residents attending.
The AGM dealt with the usual range of issues, from a report on the activities of the Committee over the previous year, to the treasurer's report. The occasion was used to acknowledge all of the hard work that goes on across the whole Rathlin community, and within a variety of island groups and organisations.
The event then moved on to the "Grugach's Gold" information session, looking at how the community can decide amongst itself how to distribute the social dividend from the Manor House social enterprise. This part of the evening was ably supported by members of the island Drama Group, and by Alan Budge of Participatory Budgeting Partners, who has supported similar projects on many of the Scottish islands.
The deadline for applications for the Grugach's Gold is 5.00pm, Friday 19th October, and the event to decide on the allocation of the money will be held on Saturday 3rd November. Further details of the event will be posted soon. If anyone has any further queries, please contact the Resource Centre.
Tania McFaul's contribution to the work of the Committee was acknowledged on the occasion of her stepping down, and Stewart Geddes was welcomed to the new Committee. The members for the 2018/19 year are: Michael Cecil, Stewart Geddes, Marianne Green, Ciaran McCurdy, Patricia McCurdy, Tom McDonnell, Fergus McFaul, Marina McMullan and John McQuilkin.
The officers are unchanged from the previous year: Chair, Michael Cecil; Vice Chair, Patricia McCurdy; Secretary, Marina McMullan; and Treasurer, Marianne Green.
The RDCA Committee would like to thank everyone for their attendance, and also Catriona Blaney and the staff of McCuaig's Bar for all their hard work on the evening.
