The RDCA Committee is delighted to welcome the decision of Moyle District Council to support the community's renewable energy project to the amount of £4,225 through the Community Infrastructure Fund.
John Martin, a director from Gigha Renewable Energy Ltd came to Rathlin on Saturday 17th September (complete with kilt in Gigha tartan!) and met with 16 residents to tell the story of the wind turbine project on our neighbouring island.
The RDCA Committee is inviting expressions of interest from landowners on the island with possible sites for a new wind turbine project. Detailed discussions on this commercial opportunity will be subject to site feasability and will be held on file until the new community company is formed. Please send expressions of interest (in writing) to the Resource Centre. For further information, contact RDCA Committee members, or the Resouce Centre.
Michael Cecil and Margaret McQuilkin of the RDCA Committee, accompanied by Community Development Worker David Quinney Mee and social enterprise advisor Nigel Flynn travelled to the island of Gigha in Argyll yesterday to examine how the island runs its social enterprise renewable energy scheme.
