Outstanding residents’ ferry pass renewal forms (and two proof of residency documents, which must be no more than 3 months old) should be sent to DRD as soon as possible. The current passes expire on 3rd April and will no longer be valid for concessions after that date.
The Minister for Regional Development, Danny Kennedy MLA visited the island on 24 October, along with representatives from several government departments and Moyle District Council for the latest Ministerial Forum.
DRD Minister, Danny Kennedy MLA, in a phone call to Noel McCurdy, RDCA Chair, explained that in view of the recent boating accident that took the life of the well-loved and respected Islander, Johnny Curry, the Minister did not feel it appropriate to go ahead with his visit to Rathlin, planned for Tuesday 5th July.
The RDCA Committee were happy to welcome to the island the Minister for Regional Development Conor Murphy yesterday, who was here to chair the Rathlin Island Policy forum.
The Department for Regional Development has informed the RDCA that not all residents have applied yet for the new residents' 'swipe card' ferry passes. To avoid disappointment, anyone who has not done so already should return immediately the forms that were sent out by the DRD to residents in February.
