The BBC Radio Ulster programme 'Your Place and Mine' will be coming live from Rathlin on Saturday 21st May from 8.05am. They will be broadcasting from outside the Manor House (weather permitting), all welcome. Also, on Monday 23rd May on BBC 1, 'Wild Week Live' will be broadcasting from the island from 7.00pm.
The deadline for nominations for the RDCA Committee passed yesterday afternoon. There was a very high level of interest, with a total of six nominations for four vacancies on the Committee.
A cargo vessel recently struck one of the islands in the Tristan da Cunha group in the South Atlantic, and an oil slick is threatening the island's tourist and fishing industries and environment. Many Rathlin island residents attended the talks given last year by Brad Robson who had lived on Tristan for a year, and will no doubt be shocked and dismayed at the news.
Please note that all residents’ passes must be renewed with the DRD by Friday 1st April. The DRD has informed us that any residents who do not renew by that date will not be able to get the residents’ discount.
