There is now a new addition to the website, with a special section entitled 'Rathlin Nature'. This section will present valuable information about Rathlin's famed biodiversity and rich heritage of flora and fauna. Specifically, there is a link to the new DoE Marine Division leaflet 'Rathlin Island's dynamic coast and seas' about the rich marine biodiversity around Rathlin Island, and there will soon be a link to the forthcoming leaflet 'The nature of Rathlin and its townlands', which introduces the island's Local Biodiversity Action Plan.

Manor House Project Key Worker

This year's Rathlin Sound Maritime Festival programme has been launched and is available online here. Individual events on Rathlin will be uploaded in the Events section of this website, and copies of the programme will be available on the island this week.

RDCA Committe Nominations 2015

There were three nominations for the Committee by the deadline of 3.00pm Thursday 30th April.

As per the constitution of the RDCA, three Committee members stood down and were re-nominated: Fergus McFaul, Tania-Lee McFaul and Ksenia Zywczuk.

No other nominations were received. As there are no more than three nominations for the three vacancies, an election will not be necessary

Road Surface Repairs on West Spine Road

The RDCA has been informed by Transport NI (Roads Service) that surface repair work will begin on the West Spine Road on Tuesday 5th May (weather and ferry permitting)

Vehicular access along certain parts of West Spine will not be available while this work will be ongoing. Transport NI plans to complete the work as quickly as possible.

Ferry Renewal Passes - Urgent Reminder

Outstanding residents’ ferry pass renewal forms (and two proof of residency documents, which must be no more than 3 months old) should be sent to DRD as soon as possible. The current passes expire on 3rd April and will no longer be valid for concessions after that date.

Congratulations to all involved in this year’s Fairtrade Fortnight on Rathlin. The island is the only Fairtrade Island in Ireland, and this year Rathlin businesses were at the forefront of promoting Fairtrade products, and demonstrating the island community’s year-round commitment to Fairtrade.
