The RDCA has arranged a public meeting with the Prince's Trust Business Programme, to be held in the Richard Branson Centre, 2.00-4.00 on Saturday 20th February. The public meeting with Habitat for Humanity and the Northern Ireland Housing Executive was very well attended, with seventeen island residents coming to the Richard Branson Centre on Saturday afternoon to get information and to discuss affordable and social housing on Rathlin.
Michael Cecil and Margaret McQuilkin of the RDCA Committee, accompanied by Community Development Worker David Quinney Mee and social enterprise advisor Nigel Flynn travelled to the island of Gigha in Argyll yesterday to examine how the island runs its social enterprise renewable energy scheme.
The Northern Ireland Tourist Board has announced the 2010 Tourism Awards, with a closing date for entries of 4 March 2010. The Awards are designed to 'reinforce Northern Ireland's brand and stimulate innovation, competitivenss and shared best practice.
Members of the RDCA Committee met at the end of November with Richard Lewis (Chief Executive of Moyle District Council) Aidan McPeake (Head of Technical Services, MDC) and Mike Thompson (Department of Regional Development) regarding the proposed bye-laws for Rathlin Harbour.
