Kelp Store restorations

Many people will have noticed the work going on recently on the Kelp Store. The National Trust has hired specialist contractors to stabilise the walls of the Store.

Training & volunteering awards & certificates

There will be a special event held on Wednesday 22 August in the Richard Branson Centre from 1.30 to 3.00 to present various awards and certificates to groups and individuals on the island. These include the World Host tourism training, the power boat training, beach clean volunteering, and the Co-op shop volunteering among others. The tourism awards are being presented by Cllr Sandra Hunter, Chair of Moyle District Council and Caroline Carey, Tourism Officer, MDC. Light refreshments will be provided.

A group from Rathlin visited the Tobermory Harbour Authority (THA) on the Isle of Mull on Monday to meet with the group and to see their new Marine Visitor Centre.

Kinramer Trophy Model Yacht Race

There was an excellent turnout for the Kinramer Trophy model yacht race on Sunday. Held on the last day of Festival Week, the weather was beautiful and the breeze was good and strong for a proper race. Seven boats entered the race.

Over 200 people gathered in McCuaig’s Bar on Rathlin on Saturday 7th July for the launch of Rathlin Island Books’ latest publication - The Call of the Running Tide by renowned sailing and local history writer, Wallace Clark.

Manor House Cup Model Yacht Race

The curse of calm weather continued on Sunday with the Manor House Cup being postponed. This time however, the race was only postponed to that evening, when the wind was forecast to pick up.

Moyle District Council support for renewable energy on Rathlin
