The deadline for nominations for the Committee passed this afternoon. Three nominations were received: Noel McCurdy, Patricia McCurdy and Tom McDonnell. As the number of nominations does not exceed the number of vacancies, there is no requirement for a vote.

The 2012 AGM will take place at 7.30pm in the Parochial Hall on Thursday 26th April. All members are encouraged to attend.

Rathlin had its first ever stand up comedy night on Friday 6th April in the bar. The night was a huge success, with over forty people watching four very talented up-and-coming young Northern Irish comedians.

There were seven boats in the Paddy O'Donnell Cup held last Saturday. The race had been held over from 2011 due to repeated bad weather, and on the suggestion of Loughie McQuilkin it was held on St Patrick's Day, the traditional first racing date of the season. The conditions were nearly calm, but with some awkward changes of wind direction.

On Tuesday 6th March, Rathlin Island’s Fairtrade Group celebrated
Fairtrade Fortnight with an event hosted in the Manor House. There was a
very good turnout from the island with over twenty people attending –
that’s almost a quarter of Rathlin’s whole population! A small group of
volunteers, supported by the Rathlin Development & Community Association
and St Mary’s Primary School, has held Fairtrade Fortnight events for
the past two years now.
